Erica Dawson’s poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Barrow Street, Blackbird, Sewanee Theological Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, and Living in Storms, an anthology of contemporary poets on manic depression. She has been awarded several fellowships prizes, including the Academy of American Poets Prize at Ohio State University and second place in the 2004 Morton Marr Poetry Prize. With degrees from the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University and Ohio State University, she is completing doctoral coursework at University of Cincinnati as the Elliston Fellow in Poetry. Big-Eyed Afraid, her first book, published by The Waywiser Press, won the 2006 Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize.
