Booker T Washington's memorial on Tuskegee’s campus.

When Washington passed away in 1915, Dawson marched with the band behind the hearse at the funeral. Washington was replaced by Major Robert Russa Moton, who continued Washington’s traditions (Malone 36; Standifer interview; Spady M1).
