The Tuskegee Choir at Carnegie Hall with Leontyne Price, March 20, 1955
Dawson retired from Tuskegee at the culmination of the Choir's 1955 season, having spent almost 25 years as its director. He took a final trip to New York with the Tuskegee choir in March of 1955. There, the choir recorded its first long-playing recording with Westminster Recording Company, appeared on “Frontiers of Faith” and the “Arthur Godfrey Show,” and gave a renowned performance at the Metropolitan Opera House (Monroe, 112).
