Session Seven: The Ecology of the Music: Identity, Artistic Expectation, and Arts Institutions.

Professor Richard A. Powell introduces "The Ecology of the Music," and "zooms in" on the themes of ecology, environment, respect, and conservation. He speaks of the complex and multi-tiered terms of identity, including questioning the roles (and existence of) of race, gender, and sexuality. He also speaks to "expectation" and the way that the audience or participants become involved in the art as it is being performed.
