Professor Lawrence Jackson gives a brief biography of Dawson, his childhood, his education, his work in the Midwest, and his return to Tuskegee. He gives an overview of Dawson's construction of the infamous Tuskegee Choir, his composition of the Negro Folk Symphony, and traces its performance by the Philadelpia Symphony Orchestra through press reviews.
