Professor Robert G. O’Meally reminisces about a visit he paid to Dawson at Tuskegee in the 1970s, and shares several tributes paid to Dawson by Ralph Ellison. He concentrates on Ellison's use of the word "discipline" in his tributes, and speaks of Dawson's role as a disciplinarian.
