The Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library at Emory University houses several thousand 19th and 20th century pamphlets relating broadly to African American religion and politics. The online portal provides centralized access to this literature. Both the cataloging of these pamphlets and creation of the portal were made possible through a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Matching funds were provided by a generous grant from the Coca-Cola Company and by gifts from African American Collections Advisory Board members Jean Bergmark, Randall K. Burkett, Virginia H. Cain, William H. Cleveland Jr., and Richard A. Long.
This project was conceptualized by Emory's Curator of African American Collections, Randall K. Burkett, in collaboration with Rare Book Librarian David Faulds. Its design and implementation were developed with the support of the entire MARBL staff.
