Advanced Search
To search the complete collection of pamphlets, go to Emory's online catalogue,
EUCLID. From the main EUCLID screen click on the Complex Search tab in the upper
right-hand corner. Searching for the term African American pamphlet in a subject field
will pull up the complete list of cataloged pamphlets: EUCLID Home Page
The search can be focused by returning to the search screen and, while retaining African American pamphlet in a subject field, entering additional keywords, subject headings, names or date ranges. For example, by limiting the search for African American pamphlet by the dates 1950-1959, one locates all African American pamphlets held by Emory University and published in that time frame. In addition, we have used the subject headings African American author, African American publisher and African American illustrator when appropriate so that researchers can search for all pamphlets with those attributes. Thus, by maintaining African American illustrator in a second subject field to one locates all pamphlets so illustrated. To search for pamphlets published by specific publishers, retain African American pamphlet in a subject field and type the publisher's name in the author field. For example, "Third World Press" or "Broadside Press" in the author field will locate all Emory pamphlets issued by those publishers. Remember that the name of a particular publisher may change over time, and institutions may issue publications under a variety of imprints. The author field can also be used to search for pamphlets by provenance. For example, by entering the name of a former owner in reverse order (e.g., Woodson, Carter Godwin) or the name of the person who wrote an inscription in a pamphlet (e.g., Wesley, Charles H.) can locate all pamphlets with those characteristics. |
