Manuscript Sources for Civil War History
This guide provides descriptions of manuscript collections relating to the Civil War organized by topic. Approximately one-third of Emory University's Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library's (MARBL) manuscript holdings contain materials relating to the Civil War. Most collections appear under more than one category. Each entry is also linked to the online catalog record for the collection, where available. In addition to the collections described here, MARBL houses over 3,000 Confederate imprints, including books, newspapers, broadsides, and sheet music printed in the Confederate States of America. Please contact marbl@emory.edu for information about these published materials. A few selected items from the Civil War collections have been digitized. Please see the documents section for a list of those items. For other web resources related to the Civil War, visit selected Civil War sites. This guide was created by Anne Thomason with the support of a Woodrow Wilson National Foundation Grant. Please contact MARBL at 404-727-6887 or marbl@emory.edu with questions regarding any of our collections. | |||||||||||||||||
