Online
Manuscript Resources in Southern Women’s History
is a collection of digitized manuscript, printed, and
visual materials drawn from the collections at the Manuscript,
Archives, and Rare Book Library (MARBL) in the Robert
W. Woodruff Library at Emory University. The
purpose of this site is to provide online access to
selected manuscript resources in MARBL’s collections
and to increase awareness of MARBL’s collections
in Southern and women’s history.
The materials compiled and presented here span over
a century of history and include topics such as women’s
suffrage, beauty
culture, women
and socialism, and civil
rights. This site also offers selected "teaching
moments" that situate materials from disparate
collections under a common theme and provide additional
historical context, sample discussion questions, and
resources for further research.
Although the majority of this material is in the public domain, some content
may be protected under copyright and is only intended
for research and instructional use under the fair use
provisions of U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, United States
Code). MARBL may have information on copyright owners in our EUCLID records, finding aids, and donor records. The nature of these collections may make copyright difficult or impossible to determine. The proper use of this information ultimately rests with the user.
