Rogers (1838-1931) was raised in antebellum Georgia where she attended Montpelier "A Horrid Picture of L.K.R. taken in Griffin," Loula Kendall Rogers papersInstitute and Wesleyan Female College in Macon. She married a Confederate officer during the Civil War and subsequently bore and raised seven children. After the Civil War, she taught music and primary education, wrote poetry and prose, and organized and directed local and state chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The collection consists of personal correspondence, journals, her poetry and prose, material from the UDC and other women's clubs, material relating to Wesleyan Female College, photographs and memorabilia. Also included are the papers of other members of her family and genealogical material. Her poetry and prose on subjects including women in history, marital relationships, and temperance, as well as collected printed material and advertisements, are of particular interest.

Materials include a variety of advertisement and printed matter, such as "Children's Books: Their Selection and Influence" and "Modern Household Hints," a number of photographs, and Rogers' writings including "Husbands and Wives" and "Woman as Inventor."
