The women (and men) of this prominent Georgia family were active members of the "Vote for Woman Suffrage Nov. 2, 1915" Broadside. Raoul Family papers. Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library, Robert W. Woodruff Library, Emory Universitypolitical, civic, and social affairs of the Atlanta community. Mary Wadley Raoul (1848-1936), her daughters and her sister were involved in a variety of social and charitable organizations as well as in the cause of woman suffrage. Daughters Mary (1882-1907) and Eleonore (b. 1888) were especially active in Atlanta political and civic communities. Mary Wadley Raoul Millis was a member of the Socialist Party and the American Civil Liberties Union, and she chaired the Angelo Herndon Freedom Committee in 1933. Eleonore Raoul Greene, the first woman graduate of Emory Law School, was active in the organization of the Equal Suffrage Party of Georgia and supported equal rights for women throughout her life. The Raoul Family papers contain letters, journals, writings, photographs, financial and legal records, clippings, printed material and memorabilia documenting the activities of the Raoul family.

Materials included here concern the League of Women Shoppers, women’s suffrage, a number of photographs, and correspondence concerning the inclusion of Blacks into the Socialist Party in the South.
