The Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library (MARBL) has a long history of acquiring manuscripts and rare book collections for research and teaching. The division’s collections serve the Emory community and students and scholars from around the world, as well as members of the general public, who are welcome to use its materials. While MARBL encourages the broadest possible use of its collections, the nature of some of these materials requires that we consider pre-college applicants on a case-by-case basis.
Through programs open to the public, research fellowships for scholars who must travel to use the collections, and projects to provide electronic access, the library seeks to make its special collections more widely known and accessible. No appointment is necessary to use the collections; however, researchers are encouraged to contact the research services staff before visiting by e-mail at marbl@emory.edu or phone at (404)727-6887. Some collections are stored off-site, and researchers will need to make an appointment to consult those collections.
